The holidays are over baby......

The holidays were mostly very restful with the exception of OR's 4th birthday party & LR's 40th birthday party! Mine went by too - full of coffee, cake friends & family!

Ollie's party was, by his request full of pirates & princess's, so with five friends invitied it looked like a pretty easy gig....that is until I realised that it was right in the midst of school holidays - so I think we ended up with about 18 children running around to the cries of "What's the time Mr Wolf" and "Duck duck Goose"! Thank goodness the weather held out, and the kids had a great time in the yard playing. I made my first attempt at a tresure chest cake - and thanks to some nifty tricks from Marion - it came up a treat - the kids just loved it!

Champions of the future...

The boys had a great time last weekend as they had the chance to play Auskick at half time of the Werribee Tigers Vs Coburg Tigers Football game. They were decked out in their footy gear and went out onto the ground high fiving the Tigers footy players! The boys had a massive supporter base with dad, aunty, uncle, 2 x nans, pop, friends x 3, 2 x cousins and mum (who was in charge of erecting the goal sticks!!!!) With the blow of the whistle off they went - JC kicked two goals (huge roar from the crowd) and Tom was rucking like a champion! It was over way too soon! The kids formed a guard of honour for the Werribee Tigers players as they ran back on to the ground. No trophies for best on ground, just a free sausage and can of drink!

What a wonderful weekend

Well the weekend has passed very quickly and full of social events for our kids. (They have far better social lives then their mother and father!)

We kicked off the weekend with a movie night Friday night, with a visit from the neighbours kids! That was great but mum forgot the 'mandatory' popcorn! (oops)

Saturday started with Auskick, great work by the little Hawk wanna be's! TK took a great mark in front of goals (he was FF), but crumbled under pressure and hand balled it thru the goals only to go to the opposition. Never mind he is doing great and has improved out of sight from the start of the year. His confidence is growing.

Saturday arvo we went to a little friends 4th birthday party out in their garden. It was a reminder that the best party's are the simplest ones - back to basics! Running around outside with a few age approopiate kids party games. Followed by loads of home made sausage rolls, fairy bread and party pies.

After the kids collapsing in bed early Saturday night I was able to catch up on last weeks episode of the ABC's new series "Bed of Roses", before this weeks episode aired (Saturday night 7.30pm). That was it though - I think I fell asleep on the couch after that!

Sunday started with a buzz of excitement as we had a close family friends birthday party at 11am. We donned our gumboots and jackets as the party was outside under an old peppercorn tree where the kids were able to hide under and climb on. The fog never lifted, but the kids still had a great time, with musical statues proving to be a great hit for the kids as well as the home made rainbow soy ice cream cake (it refused to melt it was so cold....the kids ate it like a pizza in their hands.)

The final outing of our busy weekend was a surprise for the kids. We had organised a trip to a local Fire Station with a family friend - "Fireman Johnny". As we were driving there we told the kids what we were doing and they were so excited and couldn't wait to get there. Johnny greeted us and decked the kids out in Fireman gear, took them thru the training tunnels with torches, took the kids for a ride around the yard in a real life fire truck, gave a demo's of all of the equipment in the rescue truck and last but not least gave us a tour of the station - where we met lots of fireman and one fire woman! Finished it off with a fancy MFB show bag for all the kids - they just loved it. What a day! What a weekend!

Thanks goodness they are not all this busy!

Well here I go.......

After sitting on the edge for quite a few months I have finally made the leap into the world of "blogging".
Fabulous Friday started with a difference as TK was part of his first interschool chess tournament. So we hit the deck a little earlier than usual today as he had to be at the station bright and early for the trek to the "other side" of Melbourne. He had been counting the days down for the past month and was very excited. So with a lunch box full of goodies and a head full of instructions from a slightly nervous mum about what to do if you get lost or lose your parent helper or if someone tries to lure you away from the group with the offer of lollies.....off he went! My day then proceeded as per any other Friday, with the exception of knowing my little man was not within a 10km radius, or 50 km radius for that matter. But it was all worth it - he came home with his chest puffed out as he had won one game and drew another, and contributed to his school winning overall! He thought it was just fantastic - the best part of the day was "beating the other guy," of course I should have known that!!!
